Carol J. Gryga (nee Kaiser),
Of Cedarburg, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on July 1, 1933, to her late parents, Nicholas Kaiser and Rose (nee Rahoi). She was united in marriage with John Gryga Jr. on September 7, 1957. Together their marriage was blessed with three children, Joan, Peter, and Paul.
Carol and John were both very active in their Churches, first St. Agnes (All Saints), then Holy Redeemer (Blessed Trinity). Later in life, Carol once again attended All Saints Church which provided a wonderful community for her. There was always a rosary next to her chair, and next to her bed, both well used. Carol spent most of her later years volunteering for Interfaith (Milwaukee), St. Vincent de Paul, tutoring and participating in the Grandparent program at 35th Street School for 20 years. She was a member of the Raconteurs, a very prolific writer of stories, poems and prayers, and has left a wonderful legacy for her family. She loved watching her grandsons while they were growing up, often having them write and draw with her. She was so thrilled to be a great-grandma and loved her visits with Aubrey. Carol was fiercely independent, funny, spoke her mind, and remained so right up to the very end, waiting somewhat impatiently, to be reunited with her husband John, and return home to the Lord at last.
Carol is survived by her children, Joan Gonring, Peter (Cindi) Gryga, and Paul Gryga, her grandsons Alex (Katie) Gonring, Nick (Lauren) Gryga, and great grandchild Aubrey Gonring. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Flierl, brothers-in-law, Lloyd Bath, William Flierl, and other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John, sisters, Delores Sternig, Roseanne Bath, and many of her in-laws.
There will be a memorial service held for Carol on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hunger Task Force are appreciated.
