Bryan “Pete” Miller,
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bryan “Pete” Miller on November 30th, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. A visitation will take place at Mueller’s Funeral Home in Cedarburg from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4th. A visitation will also take place at 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois, with burial to take place after at Calvary Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research are appreciated.
Pete was born on May 13th, 1937 in Centralia, Illinois, to Lena (Mordini) and Joseph Miller. After graduating from Centralia High School in 1955, and serving in the Navy for four years, where he enjoyed travelling to the west coast and Europe while stationed in Germany, he went on to study Mathematics at Southern Illinois University and after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree, he began his career at Olin Corporation, kickstarting a 40-year career in Human Resources. He retired as the Vice President of Human Resources with Aristokraft Cabinets in Jasper, Indiana.
In 1961, Pete married Sara Jane Breeze, also of Centralia. Pete and Sara went on to have 2 children, Michael and Theresa. He was physically active throughout his life, enjoying sports, especially baseball (growing up a big fan of Stan Musial and the St. Louis Cardinals), basketball, and tennis (self-taught), in which he won a number of tournaments. He enjoyed going to baseball games throughout his life and rooted for the home team no matter where he lived. Pete also loved to drive, as it wasn’t unusual for he and Sara to take long trips to see family or vacation in a variety of locations. Pete was a hard-working, good, kind, and generous person, who was occasionally shy in a crowd, but always a caring husband, dad, and grandpa. In 2000, Pete retired and enjoyed playing tennis and golf, travelling to Florida, working on his yard, and spending time with his family, which included six grandchildren.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents Lena and Joseph, his sisters Mary Katherine and Karen, and grandson Jason. He is survived by his children: Michael (Ann) Miller and Theresa (Joe) Hoge, and his grandchildren (he referred to as his “jewels”): Jack Hoge, Andrew Miller, Rachel Hoge, Ryan Miller, and Aaron Miller.
We’ll miss you Dad
