February 8, 1968 – October 9, 2023

Bruce Kassens, of Hortonville, WI, a beloved brother, significant other, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2023, at the age of 55 years.

Bruce was born on February 8, 1968, in Port Washington, WI, the son of the late Alex and LaVerne (nee Haas) Kassens.

Bruce was very fond of dogs and horses, he liked hunting, fishing, and served as the Race Director of the Eagle River Vintage Racing. His true love was snowmobiling, but most of all was the unconditional love for his family and friends.

Bruce graduated from the Journeyman’s Carpenters Union and was a member of the Carpenters Union Association. He volunteered on the Clintonville Fire Department and was so very proud of his Eagle Championship, his farmland, and Big Red. Bruce thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as Santa at Christmas time for both family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bruce leaves behind his sisters, Judith Lemke and Sandra (Thomas) Maxwell, brothers, Richard (Gina) Kassens and Michael (Cheryl) Kassens, special friend, Dixie Wiederhoeft, and brother-in-law, Larry Turtenwald. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many many friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and LaVerne Kassens, grandparents, Raymond and Florence Haas and Alex and Martha Kassens, sister, Dorothy Turtenwald, and niece, Jennifer Lee Lemke Rude.

In honoring Bruce’s Life, a Funeral Service and Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church (701 Washington St.), Grafton, with the Rev. Luke Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors, at the church prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM. Following the service, a memorial gathering will be held at 3:30 PM at the New Cascade Fire Hall (801 Madison Ave.), Cascade. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Bruce leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, laughter, an enormous heart, and a great sense of humor, and a head full of knowledge. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him and the lives in which he touched. Let us continue to remember him for the wonderful, caring, charismatic person he was—full of love warmth, and passion with an unwavering zest for life.
