Betty Jane Greif

Betty Jane Greif, 67, passed into the arms of Jesus at her home in Hesperia, CA on June 21, 2019. Betty was born May 22, 1952 in Milwaukee, WI to Orthwin and Ruth Hilgendorf. She attended church as a child at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freistadt, WI, where she was baptized and confirmed. On November 25, 1972, She married the love of her life, David Greif. David and Betty had one child, Adam Greif. Throughout their married life, they lived in Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, Arizona and Missouri. After David completed his seminary training at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO in 1994, the family moved to Hesperia, CA where David became pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Hesperia. David served there until his death in 1997. Betty and Adam continued to live in Hesperia. She worked for the last 12 years as an administrative assistant at California Teachers’ Association. Betty continued to be very active at Faith Lutheran Church, serving as Chairman of the Stewardship Committee, on the Altar Guild and most recently as Church Treasurer and Church Council member. She was also part of the audio-visual team and could be seen most Sundays sitting in the sound booth running the PowerPoint presentation. She gave many volunteer hours to this church, she held so dear and was well known, not only for her willingness to serve, but her smile and her deep love for her Savior. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son, Adam (Jamie) Greif., her four beautiful grandchildren, Alexander (17), Erin (15), Lillian (8) and Wyatt (5) Greif and her siblings, Bill (Roberta) Hilgendorf, Karen Harvot, Kathy (Rick) Gesch, David (Julie) Hilgendorf and Laurie (Terry) Eichelberger as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, Hesperia, CA. Funeral Services and interment will be held in Wisconsin on Monday, July 8th, 2019 at the Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, in Cedarburg from 10-11AM with a Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery, in Milwaukee, following the services. Her verse of the day on the day she went home to be with Jesus clearly expressed the way she lived her life: “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised” Psalm 113:3 (ESV) "When I am gone, release me, let me go.
