Betty E. Cary

Cary, Betty E. Peacefully passed away on August 22, 2012, with her children at her side after a very brief illness. Betty was born on November 10, 1926, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Pauline (Clark) and William Boone. She was a very enthusiastic Stewardess with National Airlines and greatly enjoyed the opportunities for travel that it afforded. She had many stories about her travels to Cuba and her fun on the job. She met the love of her life, James H. Cary, who was in the Coast Guard, in Miami, Florida, in the mid-50’s. They were married shortly after meeting and began a successful real estate business in Grafton, Wisconsin. Betty helped in the business in the early years and went on to be a wonderful mother and mentor to two children, Steve Cary (Cheri) and Susan Cary (Robert Borchardt). She was a loving Grandmother to Shannon M. Cary, Regan E. Cary, Robert J. Borchardt and James R. Borchardt. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Betty loved playing golf and was active for many years at North Hills Country Club. She also enormously enjoyed her home in Tequesta, Florida, for the past 35 years and entertaining her family there. Her hobbies later in life were “telling it like it is” and “puttering”. She will be missed for many reasons, but above all for her truthfulness and excellent advice. Many thanks to Friendship Village in Dublin, Ohio, for providing Betty, along with her sister and best friend, Jackie Wilcox, with a lovely second home and to the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus for the great care they provided to our entire family. Betty was also grateful to her extended family for all of their help while she was in Ohio. There will be a private ceremony at the gravesite for Betty’s family and a reception afterwards for all of Betty’s family, relatives and close friends at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 8th, at Ozaukee Country Club on River Road in Mequon. In lieu of flowers, donations to Betty’s favorite charity, the Maxi Fund for Juvenile Diabetes at Children’s Hospital in Appleton, Wisconsin, are appreciated. We congratulate Mom on a life well lived and envision her now happily playing Gin with her good friend Joyce Donaldson and having a joyful reunion with her beloved husband, Jim.
