Beth Loretta Rice Davison Sorensen, age 94, passed away March 23, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Storm Lake, IA on September 7, 1929, to Norman Beryl Rice and Florence Anderson Rice, Beth had one younger brother, Dan. They grew up in Clear Lake, IA where they loved living by the lake. Both took full advantage of its joys, from ice skating to swimming, sailing and water skiing. In fact, Beth water skied until she was age 82.
While attending Iowa State Teacher’s College (now University of Northern Iowa), she was set up on a blind date with Paul “Squirt” Davison, a Sigma Nu fraternity brother of Dan’s. They married in 1951 and Beth went on to teach 8th grade in Janesville, IA. They started their family (Anne, Jane and Dan) in Cedar Falls, IA. Due to Paul’s job changes, many moves took them to WI, MN, AL & NJ. Beth easily made friends wherever she lived, often through PEO, church and bridge groups.
Beth was a gifted homemaker. She baked delicious pies, sewed everything from costumes to prom dresses, and made all guests feel welcome in her home. She enjoyed concerts, museums, dachshunds, gardening, camping, the Green Bay Packers and time with her family.
Beth is survived by her daughters Anne Sprenger (WI) and Jane Provorse (CO), son Dan Davison (FL), in-laws Bob and Yolanda Sorensen (IL), 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Hamilton House staff and Horizon Hospice for their caring touch. A celebration of life will be held at 11am on April 19, 2024. Everyone is welcome at The Glen on Cedar Creek, W59N1156 James Circle, Cedarburg, WI. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
