A funeral service for Berniece M. Bode-Paul, 98, of Cedarburg, who passed away on February 28, 2008 at Lasata Care Center, will be held on Tuesday March 4, 2008 3:00 PM at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedarburg. Interment will be held at Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 2 PM until time of service. Memorials to First Immanuel Lutheran Church appreciated. Berniece Bode-Paul was born on April 15, 1909 in Antigo, Wisconsin, the youngest of 3 daughters of Etta and Charles Johnson. Berniece was joined in marriage to Arthur Paul in Antigo, WI and that union was blest with three sons: Arthur Clyde, Lynn Robert and Merritt Charles. In 1940 the family sold their farm and many of their possessions and embarked on a new lifestyle. Coming to Cedarburg where they owned and operated the local Gamble Store until the early 1960s. They were members of First Immanuel Lutheran Church throughout their lifetime as Cedarburg residents. Bernieces husband Arthur preceded her in death in 1965. Berniece married Daniel Bode in 1974. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was also receded in death by both of her sisters and most recently her eldest son, Arthur in 2001. Berniece was very artistic. She enjoyed painting, rug hooking, rug braiding, knitting and volunteering at Lasata Care Center for many years. She was Volunteer of the year in 2001. Berniece is survived by her sons Lynn (Leila) Paul of Cedarburg, Merritt (Carol) of Sun Prairie, daughter-in-law Audrey Paul of Cedarburg, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Berniece has been a close friend of Laura Lemke and Anita Fritz for many years since coming to Cedarburg. Close friends Ina Lauterbach and Geriena Nierode also preceded her in death. The family of Berniece would like to thank the staff of Lasata Care Center for their care and compassion. Memorials: Memorials to First Immanuel Lutheran Church appreciated.
