Beatrice E. "B.D." Jors

Beatrice (B.D.) Jors, of Cedarburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 13, 2013. Born on a farm north of Tomah, Wis., B.D. lived every day of her 69 years fully, gracefully and kindly. Beloved wife of Ed; they met as freshmen (in dance class) at UW-LaCrosse. After graduation, they moved to Minneapolis where B.D. started her teaching career. After several years, they moved back to the Milwaukee area and settled in Cedarburg, her husband’s home town. Ed and B.D. celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in August. While Cedarburg was always home, together they created many special memories in their second home in Ft. Myers, Fla., where they drove to their favorite beaches with the top down on their ’94 Mustang GT. She and Ed welcomed visits from grandkids for shelling, pontoon boat rides in the gulf, and great restaurants. When in Wisconsin, B.D. treasured visits every Saturday with her grandchildren. B.D. enjoyed traveling; she and Ed visited nearly every state. Just this year, even in illness, she and Ed made a first-time visit to Lake Louise/Canadian Rockies; she returned for her annual Door County trip with her teacher friends; and made two trips to Florida to celebrate her daughter’s birthday and to celebrate life with her family and Florida friends. As an elementary school teacher and reading specialist (she earned her master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch), she influenced generations of children to love books. She infused this love in her grandchildren, who every holiday received specially selected books. She always accepted an invitation to adventure and to share a glass of wine. She appreciated others fully and accepted them wholeheartedly, devoting herself to family and to friends. Loving mom of Chris (Carol) Jors and Jennifer (Marcus) Zimmerman. Adoring grandma of Ella & Julia Jors; Ava & William Zimmerman. Dear sister-in-law of Jane (Bob) Arens and John (Ed Hashek) Jors. Favorite aunt of Shelly (Herman) Ezpeleta, Ben (Nick Samardzija) Arens, Jeremy (Yaa) Arens, Andrew Arens, and Josh Arens. Further survived by other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Martha Severson; and her siblings, Mildred (Dave) Falk and Lyle Severson. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1-3:45PM, St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church (1375 Covered Bridge Rd.), Cedarburg. Mass of Christian Burial at 4PM. Dinner will follow mass. Ed and B.D. were very active in St. Francis Borgia Catholic church and school activities. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Francis Borgia Catholic School Building Fund appreciated. The family thanks the Aurora Medical Center - especially Dr. Sahajpal and Dr. Shamah – as well as Aurora Cancer Center and Visiting Nurses Association staff and Bright Star nurses of West Bend for the hours of care, friendship and support. A memorial service will be planned for Ft. Myers in February.
