Arlene J. Akerlund

Arlene (Piepmeyer) Akerlund March 24, 1929 – March 10, 2020 Arlene Akerlund, age 90, formerly of Eagle River WI and Ontonagon MI, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 in Cedarburg, WI. Arlene was born in Racine, WI, the fourth of five children born to Edward and Emma (Luedtke) Piepmeyer. On September 26, 1953, she married Robert Akerlund and the couple moved north to Eagle River where they raised their three children and she did volunteer work. After Bob’s retirement, they relocated to Ontonagon, MI, and enjoyed the outdoors near Lake Superior and gatherings with friends and family. Recent years were spent in assisted living in Cedarburg, WI, near son Scott and his family. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jeffrey, siblings LaVerne, Edward H. and Eugene. Surviving are her sister Judith (Roger) Berger of Beaver Creek OH; her children, Scott (Patty) Akerlund, Grafton, WI and Susan (Jeff) Watts, Mattawan, MI; grandchildren Beth (Joel) Jagodinsky, Cedarburg, WI, Laura (Peter) Kruesel, Thiensville, WI, Kari Watts (Seth) VanHeukelom, Mackinaw, IL, Kyle Watts, Denver, CO; great grandchildren Elijah Jagodinsky, Corinne and Noah VanHeukelom and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone at Harrison House in Cedarburg for the great care and companionship they provided to Arlene. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Ontonagon.
