Ann ‘Terri’ Lundgren, 77

“Terri” Lundgren (nee Whittet) of Cedarburg was taken home for her eternal rest on November 2, 2023 following a courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Born September 21, 1946 at Fort Atkinson, Terri was the daughter and only child of the late Gordon and Arlyne Whittet. She grew up in Edgerton, graduating from Edgerton High School, then from UWM with a degree in Sociology.

At UWM, she was an active member of the Alpha Phi sorority. In her spare time, she also pursued an interest as a staff volunteer at the school’s FM radio station, WUWM. It was there that she met Jon Lundgren, with whom she would marry after graduating in 1968.

Their marriage was blessed with three children who Terri absolutely adored from the moment each was born. First was Heidi in 1970, then twins Abbey and Sara, four years later. In their youngest years at home before starting school, the three were truly blessed with a full time mom whose life was filled with unconditional love for them.

Later, after the kids were in school full days, Terri began a career providing small businesses with various clerical services. That soon became a full time job as Office Manager of North Shore Engineering Company in nearby Mequon. Whenever she was needed at home, Terri’s kids came first, but she grew to love her job as the company’s “Office Mom” and she truly enjoyed the people with whom she worked. Affectionately known in the office as “Turbo,” she retired in 2014 after 25 years.

Among Terri’s most enjoyable pastimes were her frequent visits to the family’s cottage in northern Wisconsin. Located on a small lake north of Tomahawk, it was her favorite go-to place where she endlessly marveled at God’s beautiful world. From freshly hatched dragonflies and tiny toads tucked away under rocks on shore, to the incredible majesty of eagles soaring overhead, she delighted in the beauty and wonders of nature.

But she most adored a particular pair of loons that return to the lake year after year to hatch and raise their chicks. As soon as the lake opened up every spring, she carefully rebuilt their nesting site to be ready as soon as they returned from their winter away. By early summer, after the chicks had hatched, Terri would spend hours out on the lake silently trailing the chicks in her kayak. She was the best known kayaker on the lake. It was always a time of great fun.

A longtime member of Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Terri’s life reflected her strong Christian faith, and she took great satisfaction in knowing that her children shared the personal values that were so important to her. She reminded them over and over throughout their lives that the true goodness of every person is what is inside them, the personal qualities that are not easily seen. And that, she said, is what is truly important in each of our lives.

Terri is survived by her husband, Jon, who adored every one of the 55 wonderful years they had together; daughters, Heidi Lundgren of Cedarburg, Abbey (Mike) Line of Bayside, and Sara (Michael Flath) Lundgren of Chicago. She was the fiercely proud and loving grandma of five grandchildren: Vivienne, Maxwell and Whitney of Bayside, and Sabine and Elias of Chicago.

A celebration of Terri’s life will be held in northern Wisconsin this spring after the ice is gone and her loons are back. The family greatly appreciates the assistance of Mueller Funeral Home during this difficult time.
