Alvin E. Dowe

Alvin E. “Al” Dowe of Grafton, passed away peacefully at his residence, on April 16, 2015, at the age of 88 years. Al was born in the town of Grafton, on January 28, 1927, the son of the late George and the late Anna (nee Hertal) Dowe. He was later united in marriage to Donna (nee Schulze) on March 10, 1964, at St. John’s Lutheran church in Grafton. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Fritz and Erich. Al served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until he was honorably discharged in1956. Al was a farmer for over 53 years, tending to his dairy cattle, and later farming sheep. After his retirement from the farm, Al became a custodian for the Grafton School District for 16 years. Al had a great love for wildlife, he enjoyed feeding deer and cranes on the family farm. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Although Al had a great love for wildlife his true love was spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren, and grand puppy Bandit. Al is survived by his wife Donna Dowe; sons, Fritz (Susan) Dowe and Erich (JoAnn) Dowe; grandchildren, Rebecca, Alexander, and Connor Dowe; and sister, Lucille Sudbrink. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Al was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Schmidt. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 – 12 Noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church (1193 Lakefield Rd.), Grafton. Inurnment will be held at the Lakefield cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the church, from 10AM until the time of service.
