Agnes Joan Halverson

Agnes J. Halverson, 82, passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2023.

Agnes was born May 19th, 1940 in Antigo, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Donohue) Lenzner.

She graduated from Antigo High School in 1958. After high school, she worked as an aide at Antigo Hospital prior to moving to Milwaukee to attend beauty school.

On July 1st, 1960 she married Duane “Swede” Halverson at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

The couple lived in Milwaukee until moving to Port Washington in 1967. Agnes stayed home raising their children until 1976, then returned to work as a hair stylist at Sunny Harbor, working there for 29 years. Most recently, she worked at Centre Court until she retired in 2020. She loved her job and the many lifelong friends she made while working. Her dear friend Jody Cherney of 44 years stated, “ Agnes was kind, loving, and my best friend. She had a strong religion, and accepted whatever God sent her”.

Agnes enjoyed decorating for Christmas, often having her grandchildren come over to help her decorate her tree. She also loved to put up her Christmas village and was proud to show it to all of her family, friends, and neighbors. She was an avid shopper and always enjoyed looking for the perfect gift for Christmas.

She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, Christmas programs, and dance competitions. She was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks. She also had a special place in her heart for her dogs.

She loved to travel. One of her favorite spots was Walt Disney World, which she visited nearly a dozen times. Her favorite ride was Splash Mountain.

Agnes is survived by one son Patrick (Kathy) Halverson, and four daughters Kelly (Ron) Keller, Angel (Jeff) Schmit, Jill (Jon) Noegel, and Maria Schall.

She was a loving and proud grandma to 16 grandchildren Brent, Lewis, and Ryan Halverson, Brooke (Nohl) Depies, Melissa (Justin) Langer, Peter and Jaci Keller. Jake, Ella, Julia, and Brady Schmit, Zach, Hannah and Andrew Noegel, Colton and Kyla Schall and four great grandchildren Addy, Mya, Benny, and Marco. She is further survived by three sisters, Virginia O’Conner, Betty (Neal) Pecha and Dorothy (Ray) Braun.

She was preceded in death by her husband Swede, a son Michael, her parents, and two brothers Peter and James Lenzner.

We would like to thank Pine Haven Christian Communities in Sheboygan Falls where Agnes resided for the last two and a half years for their kindness, compassion, and extraordinary care. A special thank you to Amy, Sanela, Stacy, and Vicki for the special attention they gave to her.

Private service and burial will be held by the family. Memorials to St. John 23rd Catholic Church are appreciated.
