William Frederick Ohde Iii

William Frederick Ohde III, of Thiensville, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013, following a lengthy battle with COPD and emphysema, at the age of 71 years. Bill was born on March 3, 1942, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the son of the late William Frederick Ohde Jr. and the late Madeline Grace (nee Trastek) Ohde. He was also the grandson, of the late William Frederick Ohde Sr., who was the founder and owner of the Manitowoc Herald Times. Bill graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in 1960, and attended one year of college at Lawrence University. Bill then decided to pursue his love for the arts, and attended Cooper School of Arts in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1961 until his graduation in June of 1963. On January 11, 1964, Bill was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sharon Marie Heise. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, William IV, Todd, and Christopher. Bill worked as a commercial artist for many years, as was a co-founder of Designhaus, Incorporated. During his commercial art career, Bill’s most recognizable work was the Harley-Davidson red, white, and blue number one logo. Prior to his retirement, Bill worked as a resident supervisor at a community-based residential facility for the developmentally disabled. Bill was an avid organic vegetable gardener, specializing in tomatoes. He was very involved at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church in Cedarburg. He was a founding member of the church, active in the church choir, served as cantor, and a member of the Arts and Beautification Committee. Most importantly, for the past nine years, Bill assisted Sharon in the care of their grandchildren, Kyle and Stephannie Ohde, who were the joy of his life. Bill is survived by his children, William Frederick Ohde IV (fiancée Kathleen Larson and her son, James Larson), of Grafton; Todd Charles (Jill) Ohde, of Mequon; and Christopher John (Beth) Ohde, of Mequon. He is further survived by his grandchildren (children of Christopher and Beth), Stephannie Marie and Kyle William Ohde, of Mequon; by his brother, John Michael Ohde, of Los Angeles, CA; and sister, Penny A. (Tom) Beerntsen, of Sturgeon Bay, WI; his cherished ex-wife and best friend, Sharon Ohde Magnusson, of Saukville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A visitation will take place on Friday, September 6, 2013, from 4-7PM at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, (N65 W6503 Cleveland St.), in Cedarburg, followed by a Trisagion Prayer Service at 7PM. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2013, 10:30AM , at the church. Interment will take place at Immanuel Cemetery, in Cedarburg, following the Funeral Service. Memorials in Bill's honor can be made to St. Nicholas Anitochian Orthodox Church. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Gregory Matthews for his care and consideration over the years, especially during Bill’s final months, along with Horizon Home HealthCare & Hospice for the excellent care that they provided.
