William A. Hilgendorf, “Billy My Idol” Peacefully born to eternal life on August 28, 2015 at the age of 67 at home in Hubertus, WI. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 6PM at First Immanuel Lutheran Church (W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd.) in Cedarburg. The family will receive friends at the church from 4PM until the time of service. Memorials to the Froedtert Cancer Center Courage Clinic are appreciated. Bill was born a twin on July 02, 1948 in Port Washington, WI and grew up near his grandfather’s farm on the corner of Mequon and Wausaukee Roads in Mequon, WI. He graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, class of 1966. He continued his education at Milwaukee School of Engineering where he was also a member of the Triangle Fraternity. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1970. Bill went on to join Jorgensen Conveyor in the mid-1970s and Autotrol Corporation in 1979. Bill eventually landed at Envirex Corporation where he spent 30+ years as an engineer and manager, retiring in 2013. He was a proud member of the Cedarburg Fire Department for over fifteen years, spending many of those as an Engine Company Lieutenant. He was also a perennial volunteer at the department’s Maxwell Street Days. Bill found great joy in serving the community and the camaraderie of his peers. Some of Bill’s greatest joys in life were playing softball, bowling, and golfing. Bill married the love of his life, Cindy (nee Melger) in 1979. Their marriage was blessed with both a son, Matthew and daughter, Angela. Loving husband and best friend of Cindy (nee Melger). Proud father of Matt (Leslie) Hilgendorf and Angi (Andy) Steffen. Adored “Papa” of Billie Rose Steffen. Beloved son of Gloria and the late Norvin Hilgendorf and son-in-law of Mildred and the late Raymond Melger. Admired brother of Bob (Nancy) Hilgendorf and Tom (Pam) Hilgendorf. Loved brother-in-law of Nancy (Dave) Boivin and Gail (Keith) Goetter. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. His family would like to thank the caring doctors and nurses of the Froedtert Cancer Centers and staff of Horizon Home Hospice.
