Verna F. Effenheim

Verna Effenheim, a longtime resident of Grafton, passed away on April 13, 2014, at the age of 88 years. Verna was born on January 22, 1926, in Grafton, the daughter of the late Robert Oberheu and the late Hulda (nee Noltze) Oberheu. After her school days, Verna went to cosmetology school, in Milwaukee, to become a beautician. Verna was united in marriage to Erwin Effenheim, on October 18, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Grafton. Her husband, Erv, built the house they lived in, his occupation being a carpenter, made it handy. Verna had a great love for music. She was a very talented musician playing various instruments, especially the accordion. In addition to music, her hobbies were embroidering and crocheting. She loved ice skating and roller skating, in her younger days. Verna spent time traveling to Florida, Jamaica, trips to Mackinac Island as well as many other states, in the U.S. Verna worked at Fromm Labratories as well as Exacto Springs, where she made many friends throughout her career. She also spent many hours taking care of her husband when he became ill. Erv passed away on February 8, 1997, and when Verna was unable to care for herself, she moved to Dekora Springs Assisted Living, in Saukville. Verna is survived by her son, James Effenheim, of Milwaukee, sisters, Bernice Noster and Melba Borchardt, both of Grafton, sister-in-law, Dorothy Effenheim, and brother-in-law Herbert Effenheim. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Verna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Jerry Effenheim. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 7:00pm at the Providence Place Chapel, 815 Washington Street, Grafton. In state on Wednesday, at the Providence Place Chapel from 5:30pm until the time of Service. Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Grafton.
