Sonny (Frank) Baackes,

Of Mequon, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 16, 1948, to his late parents, Frank Baackes III and Ruth Baackes (nee Wood). He was united in marriage on February 24, 1973, to his beloved wife, Patricia “Tricia”. Together, their marriage was blessed with two children, Michael “Mike” and Nicholas “Nick”.

After Sonny graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1967, he attended Kendal College in Evanston, IL studying liberal arts. He started his career at a car dealership in Illinois which expanded to the Milwaukee area. He then worked at Schmit Ford in Thiensville for 22 years until retiring. Sonny had a passion for staying active, in his school years, he played basketball and baseball and as he grew older, Sonny and Tricia loved to golf together. They both loved to travel to Door County where they would explore new restaurants, relax, and take walks on the beach. Sonny had many hobbies, but his one true joy was spending time with his loving grandchildren. What Sonny’s family and friends will remember most about him was his selfless personality and always having a smile on his face.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Tricia and his two sons, Mike (Alisha) and Nick. He is further survived by his three grandchildren, Katie, Mollie, and Gabriella, his brother, Greg (Sue), sister, Kathi Grimes, sister-in-law, Diane Clemens, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Baackes III and Ruth Baackes, along with his father-in-law, Joseph Saporito, and his mother-in-law, Roberta Saporito.

There will be a memorial service held for Sonny at Grace Lutheran Church in Thiensville at 12:00 PM on Monday, November 11, 2024. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM till 11:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church are appreciated.
