Samuel Benjamin Joseph Lund Born to eternal life on June 10, 2015 at the age of 84 at St. Joseph Froedtert Hospital - West Bend. A celebration of Sam’s life will be held at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church (10729 W. Freistadt Rd.), Mequon, on Saturday June 13, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. A visitation will take place prior to the funeral service from 12 (noon) to 1:25 p.m. Pastor Joshua Rusert will be officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery, with luncheon to follow within the cafeteria / gym. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated. Samuel Benjamin Joseph Lund was born March 18, 1931 in Clarkfield, Minnesota to Joseph & Agnes Lund. He graduated from Clarkfield High School, Class of 1948. Sam’s first job was working at Anderson Auto Service Station in Clarkfield, Minnesota as a Station Attendant. On May 15, 1952, Sam was drafted to serve our country in the Korean War. Upon honorable separation February 14, 1954, Sam received accommodations with a Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars. Sam then sold shoes at Brown’s Shoe Store in Minnesota. He later became a regional sales representative for Del Monte Corporation, and worked for them over 40 years. He retired in 1989, but still remained in sales by working seasonally for Washington Cherry Corporation. In Sam’s pastime, he enjoyed many travels throughout the United States and Canada, entertaining guests, experimenting with different recipes in food preparation and baking; and he always had a special charismatic way of having discussions with people. Sam was blessed with an adopted son, Robert, from his first marriage to Geraldine Babler. Later he received blessings through his marriage with Eleanor "Mazie" (Zauner) Brown, and her children. Eleanor preceded Sam in death in 1986. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Bacus. Sam is survived by his cherished wife of 28 years, Leona (Boehlke) Hilgendorf. Best friend and father of son, Robert (Diane) Lund. Dear step-father of Gayle (Michael) Sullivan, Gary (Rhonda) Hilgendorf, Stuart (Diah) Hilgendorf, Kathleen (Bruce) Newman, and Michael (Mary) Brown. Further survived by 13 grandchildren - Erika, Lauren, Kelly, Rachel, Dwight, Alison, Bridgette, Brittany, Jim, Mike, Aaron, Latoya and David; and also 5 great-grandchildren - Skylar, Shep, Reagan, Ival and Natalya. He is further survived by many other loving business associates, relatives and friends.
