Ronald A. Monty Ronald A. “Plugger” Monty of Grafton, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon at the age of 80 years. He was born in Phelps, WI., on May 30, 1939 the son of the late Algern and the late Helmi (nee Honkala). After Ronald’s mother died at the age of 35 years, his aunt Jenny helped his father raise him. Ronald was a paratrooper in the United States Army for 3 years. He received the parachutists badge of honor. He married Sandra (nee Smith) on March 3, 1973, and were married for 45 years. They had two beautiful girls Jean and Ronda. Upon marriage he became a father to Debbie, Cathy, Harold, Richard and William. Ronald worked at Tecumseh Products in Grafton, and at Glenroy in Menomonee Falls. He was at Glenroy for over 30 years before retiring. Ronald was full of life. He enjoyed golf, bowling, the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Bucks. He loved to grill in his backyard with a beer in hand while enjoying time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was such a caring, kind, loving person who would give his shirt off his back for anyone, even a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and greeted everyone with a smile. Ronald’s kids were his everything, even before his Chicago Cubs. The cubs won the World Series in 2016. They played in their first Fall Classic in 71 years. Chicago dispatched the Indians in seven games, storming back from a 3-1 series deficit to claim its first title since 1908. Ronald was as strong as the Cubs were in this World Series, he fought like they did! Ronald is survived by his daughters; Jean Sternig, Ronda (Bill) Zahnow, Debra (Darrell) Dohrwardt and Catherine (Mark) Jagelovicz, sons, William Sauer and Richard Sauer, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law’s; Mark (Jane) Smith, Jeff (Jill) Smith and Chris (Karen) Smith, special friend, Kevin Houthuizen, nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by, his wife, Sandra (nee Smith), parents, Algren and Helmi, sisters, Betty and Loretta, son, Harold W. Sauer Jr., great-granddaughter, Taylor Dohrwardt, father and mother-in-law, Sony and Jean Smith, brother-in-law, Richard (Jill) Smith and sister-in-law, Victoria Smith. Private services will be held by the family. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated. The family would like to thank Heritage Health Services, Cedar Grove Gardens, Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee and Horizon’s Lawlis Family Hospice for their exceptional care they gave our father. It was just my time, But I will see you someday on the other side. Don’t cry for me. I am not alone The angels are with me to welcome me home. Don’t cry for me, for I have no fear. All my pain is gone, and Jesus took my tears. Don’t cry for me. This is not the end. I’ll be waiting here for you when we meet again.
