Roger Newton Cooley

Roger N. Cooley of Cedarburg departed this world but remains in spirit and the hearts of all who have crossed his path, know and loved him on January 6th, 2014. Roger has reunited with his parents William and Lynne and his first love Geri. Roger leaves but remains in the heart of his cherished, devoted and caring wife Aleta Cooley (nee Clayton). Surreal and sadly missed by big and only brother Billy (Pat) and his sister Carol of California. Roger leaves behind lovely nieces Laura (Neil) and Lisa (Don) and grandnieces Gabby and Abby. Roger also leaves behind stepsons Clay and Michael (Julie) Nowatzki. Grandchildren Jim (Kendra), Stephanie and Zac (Roger's riddle buddy) Nowatzki. Roger leaves behind additional grandchildren Charlie, Benjamin and Kendall Krombach and great grandchild Miran. Also survived by many friends. Roger sacrificed and served for the United States Army and fought during the Korean War which took place from 1950 to 1953 with casualties of 36,574 men. After the war Roger attended Barber School and went on to enjoy a career of 26 years at Dick's Village Barbers of Brown Deer and then decided to retire. Only to find out that he had not grown old of telling Barber Jokes and decided to work part time for Vic's Barber Shop of Cedarburg for 11 years. Roger was a Legionnaire and a Mason. Roger was a meticulous and gifted gardener and he also loved to fish. Roger was and is a kind soul and will be truly missed by family and friends. Besides being a kind soul....Roger did not lack for self-esteem. Roger frequently referred to himself as a Wizard and possessed a t-shirt that said "Mr. Perfect" on it. Roger also was known to sign yearbooks with "Roger the Great". The family would like to give our heart filled thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Hospice. Especially nurses Cathy, Suzanne and Laura. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Community United Methodist Church of Cedarburg, Boy's town of Omaha and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Visitation will be Saturday January 11th from 1PM to 2PM followed by Memorial Service at 2PM at Community United Methodist Church W68 N563 Evergreen Blvd.Cedarburg.
