Richard A. Hoppe, of Mequon, passed away, on July 1, 2015, at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Campus, at the age of 72 years. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at 1PM at the Mueller Funeral Home, in Cedarburg. He will be in state, on Wednesday, prior to the service from 11AM until 1PM. Dick will be laid to rest, next to his parents, at Immanuel Cemetery, in Cedarburg. Memorials of your choice are appreciated. Dick was born in Milwaukee, on August 4, 1942, the son of the late Howard Hoppe and the late Ida (nee Potzner) Hoppe. Dick attended Cedarburg High School, and ran the mile for the high school track team. He received his diploma from Cedarburg High School, in the spring, of 1960. Dick served his country in the United States Air Force, as a crew chief member on the 135 Tanker, while serving in Vietnam. After four years of faithful service to the Air Force, Dick was honorably discharged and returned to Mequon. Dick was a member of the American Legion Post #457, in Mequon. Dick was employed at Power Products, as a forklift driver, and dedicated 47 years to his company. He retired from Power Products, which is now, Tecumseh, in 2008. Dick had a great love for automobiles. In his earlier years, Dick and his brother, Chuck, could be found racing cars at the Union Grove races, or helping many of the drivers who drove stock car, at the Cedarburg stock races. In his down time, Dick would still be found tinkering with cars, engines, or other motors, on the family farm, in Mequon. Dick is survived by his brother, Charles Hoppe, one niece, and three nephews. He is further survived by great nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law, Betty Hoppe.
