Pastor Peter Kelm joined his Savior in heaven on September 11, 2017, after a heroic battle with cancer, at the age of 45. The impact of his life endures in his wife Angie and his children Jacob, Caleb and Chloe, as well as in Peter’s parents Paul and Lynne Kelm, his brother Andrew Kelm and his wife Amy and children Jackson and Ainsley, and his sister Laura Funk and her husband Tim, and in the lives of countless friends, relatives and congregation members. Peter was born in Pittsfield, MA on July 10, 1972 and became a dear child of God in baptism four days later. He confessed his faith in a confirmation vow at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, WI. Peter is a graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Northwestern College and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, where he earned two masters degrees. Pastor Kelm served the Lord in Ghana, West Africa, Cincinnati, Ohio, and at Immanuel Lutheran in Brookfield, Trinity Lutheran in Freistadt and First Immanuel Lutheran in Cedarburg, WI. He also served the church-at-large as the executive director is missions for the South Wisconsin District of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. He will be remembered for his love for his family, his passionate preaching, his mission zeal, his visionary leadership, his quick wit, and maybe his golf game. A service of comfort for God’s people and gratitude to God for Pastor Kelm’s life and ministry will be at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, W67N622 Evergreen Blvd. in Cedarburg, on Sunday, September 17, at 7:00 pm with visitation from 4:00 to 6:50. Parking is available at Cedarburg High School across the street from the church. Private burial will be at Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Freistadt. In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Pastor Kelm may be directed to First Immanuel Lutheran Missions or Living Word Lutheran High School of Jackson, WI.
