Paul A. Sass peacefully passed into the hands of the lord on December 15, 2012. He was born November 24, 1933 to Dr. J.E. Sass and Frances Ellison Sass in Ames, Iowa. Paul graduated from Iowa State University in 1956 with a degree in Chemistry. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the recently formed United States Air Force and reported for duty in Tampa, Florida. It was here he met his wife, Leonora “Sue” Hornsby. They married in August of 1957 and spent the next 55 years deeply devoted to each other. Following his military service, Paul worked as a metallurgist for US Steel Corp and the Steel Warehouse until his retirement in 2003. Paul is survived by his wife; two sons: Gregory (Lori Steinbach) of Fond du Lac and Neil (Joy Patton) of Cedarburg; and his sister, Jean Moeller. Paul adored his sons and took great pride following their lives. He had five grandchildren: Matthew, Megan, Alyssa, Morgan and Madilyn. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David of Boulder, CO. A memorial service will be held at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg on Saturday, December 22, 2012 – 7:00 PM. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 PM until time of service. Memorials to St. Boniface Episcopal Church of Mequon appreciated. The family would especially like to thank the staff and Doctors at Columbia St. Mary’s, the caregivers at Lasata Care Center, and the professionals at Heartland Hospice.
