A funeral service will be held on Monday January 29, 2007 – 7:00 PM at Community United Methodist Church, Cedarburg, for Melvin J. Mason of Grafton, who died at Lasata Care Center on January 24, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 5-7 PM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Community United Methodist Church appreciated. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.muellerfuneralhome.com Melvin was born on December 26, 1916 in Unity, WI the son of the late Arthur and Henrietta Nee Cook Mason. Melvin graduated in 1936 from West Allis High School. Melvin and Alberta “Bertie” were married on September 2, 1939 in Malcolm, Iowa. Melvin served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a life long member of the Rose Harms American Legion Post # 355, Grafton. Melvin favorite hobbies were helping with the boy Scouts of America, Dartball, coaching Little League Baseball, hunting, fishing and woodworking. Most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Alberta “Bertie” nee Ward; children: Barbara Robert Scherbert of Cedarburg, WI, Gary Sue mason of Hamburg, WI, Keith Pam Mason of Cedarburg, WI, and Kenneth Dolly Mason of Slinger, WI; a sister Mildred; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
