Mary Jane Melichar

Mary Jane Melichar, of West Bend, formerly of Cedarburg, passed away on October 31, 2019, at the New Perspective Residential Care Center, at the age of 91 years. Mary was born on June 23, 1928, on the family farm, in Holy Cross, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Frank Klos and the late Johanna (nee Heinen) Klos. She was later united in marriage to Leo Melichar, on April 20, 1948, in Holy Cross, Wisconsin. Together, their marriage was blessed with four boys, Ronald, Alan, Loren, and Brian. Mary and Leo relocated to the Cedarburg area, where they attended St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, and Mary was a member of the St. Anne’s Altar Sodality of St. Francis Borgia. She was employed at Allen Bradley, in Cedarburg, working as sodder wire assembler for over 30 years. In her down time, Mary was a cake decorator, and was so proud to be able to make all four of her sons, wedding cakes. She was an avid crafter, knitter, quilter, and she was known for making her own Christmas ornaments. Mary is survived by her sons, Alan (Sue) Melichar and Brian (Lori) Melichar, daughter-in-law, Joyce Melichar, and sister, Delores Neveux. She is further survived by her 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Melichar, sons, Ronald Melichar and Loren Melichar, granddaughter, Theresa Melichar, and brother, Alex Klos. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 4, 2019, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1619 Washington St.), Grafton. She will be in state, on Monday, at the church, from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Father Michael Barrett will preside over the Mass. Mary will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Grafton, next to her beloved husband, Leo. Memorials of your choice are appreciated.
