Mabel S. Denow

Mabel S. Denow Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, N60 W6047 Columbia Road, Cedarburg at 6:00pm for lifelong resident of Cedarburg, Mabel S. Denow who passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the age of 94 years from natural causes. Visitation will be held at church on Thursday from 4:00pm until 5:45pm. Interment Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Mabel was born in Cedarburg, Wisconsin on June 2, 1920, the daughter of the late Emil and Lydia (nee Heidtke) Spuhl. She was united in marriage on October 17, 1942 to Archie Denow at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg and they were blessed with 4 children. Mabel was an elementary teacher at various schools. She began as a 1-room teacher in Cedarburg. Her favorite teaching was home-schooling special students in Cedarburg and Grafton. She loved the one-on-one teaching. She also taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church. Mabel was raised on a farm where she learned to grow vegetables and planting flowers. She was a longtime volunteer at Lasata in Cedarburg and up until last week was still quilting. Mabel is survived by her children; David (Diane), Cora (Donald) Hankins, Kenneth (Janie) and Mary (the late Mike) Maltbey, grandchildren; Nikki Denow (Rick) Fry, Ryan (Shari) Hankins, Chris Dickmann, Jenny Dickmann, Ben (Stacey) Dickmann and Melanie Hankins, great-grandchildren; Fiona Denow Fry and Ryan Dickmann, other relatives and friends. Mabel is preceded in death by her parents, husband Archie and sister, Hertha Borleske.
