Louise Zahn, of Port Washington, age 104, passed onto eternal life on Aug. 22, 2017 at the Harbor Cove in Port Washington, WI, where she had resided since 2014. Louise was the daughter of John and Anna (nee Samz) Behlow. She was born in 1912 and raised in Two Rivers, WI. After graduating from high school, she worked in Two Rivers until she moved to Milwaukee as a young adult. Working there, she met and married Jerome Zahn (b.1910) in 1943 in Manitowoc. She moved to Grafton, where her husband lived and they had 2 daughters, Roann and Marla. She also had a stepson, Mark. She valued education and insisted both of her daughters attend college. Louise was a homemaker and treasured time with both family and friends. She had a group of women friends who met regularly to socialize, discuss things, and hand mend things. She was a good seamstress and made a lot of her and her daughter’s clothes. She did a variety of crafts such as rug hooking, crocheting and embroidery. She was interested in the family genealogy. She did crossword puzzles, Sudoku, word searches and enjoyed playing board games. In her later years she liked playing scrabble and doing puzzles. She was especially proud of being a charter member of the Grafton senior citizen group where she attended meetings, played canasta, had lunch and attended social functions. Louise liked to travel, and she and Jerome went on trips and outings with the Senior’s and on their own. Jerome died in 1998 and Louise remained in her Grafton home until 2013 when she moved to Port Washington. Special thanks to her caregivers, the wonderful staff at the Cove, who enjoyed her spunk and sense of humor. Per Louise’s request, a private service was held.
