John R. Finco,
of Mequon, WI passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in home on January 4, 2024 at the age of 90. John proved that age was just a number and although he was 90, there wasn’t much he wasn’t willing or able to do. John was born in Ironwood, Michigan on May 2, 1933, to the late John and Mary (nee Serbin) Finco. After graduating from high school, John enlisted in the Army in 1952. John honorably served his country in Korea until the end of the war. When he returned home from the service, John married Nancy Gulan of Montreal, WI in 1955. In the early 60’s they settled in Mequon, WI where they raised their three boys: Marty, Randy and Scott.
John’s passion for Harley Davidson started in 1955 while working in the Research and Development Department. He retired in 1993. His tenaciousness and grit allowed him to hold two jobs: running a landscaping and swimming pool business during the day and working at Harley at night. John had many fascinating interests over the years. Some of which included raising beef cattle emus and ostriches. He especially enjoyed working at his shop on Sherman Road on a variety of projects and new inventions. If it was broken, John would find a way to fix it.
John remained a devoted Harley rider and he loved spending time with his “Harley Family” and attending numerous Harley Events. He took pride in the fact that he was still on two wheels and able to attend the yearly Harley rides. This past summer, he took his last long-distance ride with the gang.
If John loved you, he would give you the shirt off his back. Of all the things John built, his family was his greatest accomplishment. He was always the first to show up and never missed an event. John was extremely loyal and excelled at maintaining lifelong relationships. He would walk in wherever he wanted with his charisma, and you couldn’t help but love him for his playful banter.
John is survived by his sons: Martin (Audrey) Finco, Randy (Jean) Finco and Scott (Margie) Finco; Grandchildren: Andy (Jenn), Amy (Robert), Aaron, Ben, Amanda (Bryan), Sarah (Jason) and Karri (Ben); Great Grandchildren: Hudson, Hayden, Robert Jr. Courtney, Tyler, Jenna, Blake, Bree, Zoey, Isabel, Will, Nora, Luke, Kaylee, Avery, Angela, Grady, Stella, Natalie, Piper and Allie; Step Grandchildren: AJ (Meghan), Jonathan (Timber), Jessica and their children: Lorelei, Scarlett, Kiera, Aubree, Hailey, Elsa, Zoey, Julian and Juliana. He leaves behind his Harley family and many friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife Nancy; Sister Sharon; and Granddaughters: Kayla and Lisa.
