Bartos, Janet Alberta (nee Hemmingsen), a long time resident of Grafton, born December 3, 1923, in Racine, Wisconsin, to the late Dr. T. Charles and the late Pearl (nee Furstenhafer) Hemmingsen, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 17, 2016. Janet grew up and graduated from Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin and furthered her studies at Marquette University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree. On June 25, 1948 she was united in marriage with Lawrence Joseph Bartos and they were blessed with three children. She was a dedicated and loving mother. Janet worked as a substitute teacher in the Wauwatosa School System and was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. Most recently she was a member of St. Simon the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Port Washington WI, and was an active member for many years. She was a dedicated volunteer and board member at St. John’s Home in Milwaukee. Visiting much of the United States as well as many foreign countries showed her love of travel. Being of Danish descent, she was involved in the Holiday Folk Fair, in Milwaukee. Janet was an avid genealogist, investigating many branches of her family’s past. Another one of her passions was gardening, especially her flowers. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence Bartos, cherished mother of Laura, Scott, and the late Randall Bartos. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. T. Charles and Pearl (nee Furstenhafer) Hemmingsen. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00AM at St. Simon the Fisherman Episcopal Church (3448 North Green Bay Rd), Port Washington WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Simon the Fisherman Episcopal Church appreciated.
