James N. Gilberts

Private Memorial Services will be held for James N. Gilberts of Grafton who died at home on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the age of 89 years. Memorials in James’s memory can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton, WI. James was born on October 11, 1922 in Stanley, Wisconsin to the late Anker and Laura (nee Solie) Gilberts. James married Jean Peterson on November 15, 1946. Their marriage was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Jayne. James and Jean were residents of Grafton since 1955. James proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. James was stationed in Hawaii and saw firsthand the devastation that happened to Pearl Harbor. Jean preceded James in death in 2009, they had been married for 62 years. James and Jean were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church for a very long time. Both James and Jean were avid golfers, loved bowling and they loved Door County. James also was an avid reader of western stories. James is survived by his daughter; Jayne (Thomas) Pretty and his granddaughter Britta (Thane) Nelson. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. Service: Private services will be held.
