James N. Bertrand Of Cedarburg, January 8, 2020 age 90 years. Beloved husband of Patricia for 66 years. Loving Father of Steve, Robert (Judy) and Scott (Diane). Loving Grandfather of Alicia (Steve), Jeffrey (Keri), Jessica (Evan), Jaclyn and Jennifer. Great Grandfather of Sydney, Rudy, Brynn and Chloe. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Anna, daughter Cheryl, siblings Mary Ann (Joseph), Alice and Fred (the late Nancy). Mass of Christian Burial Monday, January 13 at 3:30 pm at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg. Instate at the church on Monday 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (alzfdn.org) appreciated. Jim was first and foremost a man of great faith and shared that faith with his family. He was a patriotic American, very proud veteran who volunteered to serve in the US Army. He was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and defended democracy in the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Peter Wollner Post 288 and was honored to be selected to fly on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Jim believed in giving back to the community and over the years served as Scout Master, Coach and mentor to his sons and their friends. He was a Charter Member of Divine Word Catholic Church (aka St. Francis Borgia) and donated his time, talent and treasure as an alter server, lecture, Eucharistic Minister and any other duty that was needed around the church. He volunteered to become an active member of the Cedarburg Fire Department where he was a firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, ambulance driver, fund raiser and ran the concession stand for the Department for many years at Maxwell Street Days, Music Fest and Ozaukee County Fairs. For many years Jim served as caretaker for his adoring wife, Pat, of 66 years as she battled with Alzheimer’s. The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Jorgensen for not only his incredible skills as a physician but more importantly the care and respect that he provided Jim and his family over the years. The family would also like to thank the angels that work and volunteer at Lawlis Family Hospice Center for the extra special care they provided Dad during his last days.
