Dobberfuhl, Gordon "Gordy" P. Peacefully entered into eternal life on March 6, 2017, at the age of 77. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Visitation will take place from 3:30 - 5:45 pm, followed by the service at 6:00 pm. Private burial will take place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Immanuel Guardian Angel Fund would be appreciated. Gordy was born on September 28, 1939, in Mequon, WI, and grew up on his family-owned dairy farm. He graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High school and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Gordy married the love of his life, Betty (nee Bentz) in June 1964. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Larry and Diane. Gordy began his career when he was sought out by Don Zimmermann, Inc. as a heavy equipment operator. Later, he willingly accepted a new challenge as Zimmermann's first crane operator. Gordy quickly mastered the skills and routinely operated the largest cranes in the fleet, which was later bought out by Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental. Gordy was well-known and highly respected in the industry as one of the best in the business. His career spanned almost 40 years. Gordy was a longtime resident of Cedarburg and was very involved in his church community. He sang in the choir for over 60 years and was a member of the dartball team for over 50 years. When Gordy wasn't busy in the yard, tending to the garden, or fixing something, he could be found in his workroom making woodworking projects, which he especially treasured creating with his grandsons. He also enjoyed reading and traveling with Betty after he retired. He spent his rare free time watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. Gordy will be remembered for his calm demeanor and welcoming smile. He was a friend to everyone and always willing to lend a helping hand. He truly had a heart of gold which shined brightly. He will be greatly missed by his saddened family, friends, and community. Gordy is survived by his one true love and best friend of 52 years, Betty. He was the cherished father and hero of Larry (Kimberly) and Diane (Gerald) Zedde; adored grandfather of Jonathan, Rebecca, Benjamin, Dominic, and Matthew; and loving brother of Dorothy Ceretto, David (Barb), Marvin (Cathy) and Dean. His legacy shines on through many devoted relatives and dear friends.
