Gilbert J. Hensien

Gilbert J. Hensien Of Port Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on January 21, 2018 at the age of 80. Gilbert was born in Detroit, MI on July 16, 1937 the son of the late Elmer E. & Frances (Nee Bohl) Hensien. On February 4, 1967 in Yale, MI, Gilbert was united in marriage to Mary Jane (Nee Wilt). Gilbert is a graduate of St. Anthony High School and the University of Detroit School of Engineering. Gilbert is retired from Ford Motor Co., Mercury Marine and Teledyne Corporation. Gil spent over 35 years innovating in engine design and development. Beginning his career at Ford Motor Company, Gil was an inaugural recipient of the prestigious Henry Ford Technology Award, for his outstanding talent in engine engineering. Gil carried that passion for innovation into the marine industry with Mercury Marine and then into the world of aviation with Continental-Teledyne. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (nee Wilt); Sons: Michael A. (Monica) Hensien, William A. (Lee Ann) Hensien and Jeffrey A. (Kari) Hensien; Proud grandfather of Margaret, Katherine and Ryan. Further survived by other relatives and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 – 11:00 AM at Lumen Christi Catholic Church 2750 W. Mequon Rd. Mequon, WI. Family will receive friends at the church on Sat. from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Stars & Stripes Honor Program, St. Ben’s Community Meal or charity of your choice are appreciated.
