Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3PM until the time of service. Rev. Janis Kinens will officiate at the celebration of Freds 88 years of life. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton on Monday at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Advent Lutheran Church or the Alzheimers Association are appreciated. \r\n Fred Molling was born May 31, 1920, in Milwaukee to the late Peter and the late Edna (nee Teske) Molling. He attended North Division High School in Milwaukee and entered into active service in the United States Army in July of 1942 as a combat infantryman. On September 20, 1943, he married Marilynn Janzer. They were married on a Monday, and he never failed to remind her about the misread of the calendar when she chose the date! Fred and Marilynn enjoyed a wonderful marriage and a close friendship, enjoying trips and playing golf together. When Marilynn became a resident of Lasata Care Center, Fred rarely missed their daily visit.\r\n As a Sergeant in the Army during WWII (the big one as he often reminded us!), he served with distinction, earning a Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. His commendation for the Bronze Star reads in part: For heroic achievement in France on 17 September 1944, when his platoon suffered heavy losses including the loss of the platoon leader, during a hotly contested attack made more difficult by a continual downpour of rain and dense fog, he reorganized the platoon and pressed forward unrelentingly until the objective was achieved. His remarkable leadership and exemplary devotion to duty are commensurate with the highest traditions of the armed forces of the United States.\r\n After being honorably discharged, Fred, and his wife, Marilyn, settled in Milwaukee to begin a family. They had two daughters, Lynn and Joan, and moved to Whitefish Bay where they lived on Lydell Ave. for 17 years before moving to Cedarburg in 1969.\r\n Fred began his retail career at Schusters, a former Milwaukee area department store; he then worked for the Gimbles-Schuster department stores and subsequently managed one of the first Kohls Department Stores in Menomonee Falls. If you are a long time area resident, you may remember Fred as the manager of Alstons Department Store in Cedarburg and West Bend for many years. He enjoyed greeting shoppers and took pride in providing his customers with outstanding service. He also served as an advocate and mentor to the many people with whom he worked.\r\n Fred loved to fish the lakes of northern Wisconsin and play golf with his friends when he had a bit of extra time. He also enjoyed his mens poker club where the betting was strictly the penny ante variety!\r\n He was filled with pride for his family, sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. He often remarked how lucky he was to have such a loving and close family. If he bored you with the details, we as a family apologize!\r\n Fred is survived by his wife, Marilynn of Cedarburg; his children Lynn (Donald) Titus of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Joan (the late Steven) Tuttle of Grafton; his grandchildren Karen (Patrick) Trewin of Decorah, IA, Brian (Vicky) Titus of Royersford, PA, Jason Tuttle of Grafton, and Jessica (Kyle) Van Sluys of Grafton; his great-grandchildren Sean and Abby Trewin, Justin and Evan Titus, and the soon to be born Baby Van Sluys of Grafton; sisters Ruth Molling and Violet Stratton of West Allis; nieces, other relatives and friends.
