Frederick F. Heidtke “Fritz” of Jackson, passed away at Cedar Community on April 28, 2016, age 94 years. Beloved husband of the late Janet (nee Hill). Loving father of Keith (Kandee) Heidtke, Rev. Gail Heidtke, Susan Heidtke, and Joel (Wendy) Heidtke. Proud grandfather of Andrew (fiancée Elizabeth Hall) Heidtke, Beth (Jason) Boche, and Maya Heidtke. Dear brother of Robert (Iliene) Heidtke and the late Rev. David Heidtke. Brother-in-law of Mary Heidtke Wilson and Ethel (Earl) Walter. Further survived by other relatives, church family, good neighbors, and dear friends. Funeral Service Saturday, May 7, 2016, 1PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church (2881 Division Rd.), Jackson. Interment church cemetery. In state on Saturday, at the church, 10AM until 12:45PM. Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund or ELCA World Hunger are appreciated. Frederick F. Heidtke “Fred” “Fritz” was born May 12, 1921 in the Town of Jackson to the late Rudolf and Melita (nee Groth) Heidtke. He married Janet Hill on May 26, 1945 at Hephatha Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI. Fred was a faithful child of God and a lifelong and active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI serving on many boards, congregational president, church council and building planning committees. He loved singing bass in the choir and playing dartball. Fred also participated in Brotherhood, both at St. John’s and in the conference. He was the head usher at church for many years and loved to greet everyone. Fred was active in Luther League in his own church, the Milwaukee Federation, the Wisconsin District and was the Vice President of the National Luther League. Fred and Janet made many friendships in their Luther League days, which friendships have lasted a lifetime. Fred worked as a farmer his whole life on the family farm in Jackson. He also worked at Boehlke Hardware, was the Jackson Town Clerk for 10 years and was a voting poll worker. Fred worked 64 years for Lemke Seed and sold insurance with Willard and Dan Geiger & Geiger Insurance for 32 years. Fred also volunteered with the local Lutheran Brotherhood branch in many ways & threw out the first ball at Lutheran Night at the Brewers in 1984. Fred loved baseball and played ball with his brother Bob and many neighborhood friends and cousins. Janet and Fred loved sitting on the front porch enjoying God’s creation and the farm. Janet & Fred enjoyed traveling to see Fred’s brothers and their wives in Arizona & Texas and they took four trips to Germany enjoying their tour companions and the sights. Fred loved people, loved making new friends and so enjoyed visiting with the young and old alike. He had a firm handshake and warm smile. He will be missed.
