Eugene J. Grandlic

Former Town of Cedarburg resident Eugene (Gene) Grandlic, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 10, 2018, at Seasons Hospice. Gene leaves his loving wife of 54 years, June (nee Bares) of Grafton; son Dale (Michelle) Grandlic of Nevada City, California; daughter, Jill (Michael) Precia of Sun Prairie; daughter Karen (James) Schaewe of Mukwonago and grandchildren Ben (Crissy) Grandlic of Salt Lake City, Utah; Logan Grandlic of North Bend, Washington; Haley Precia of New Berlin; Jason Precia and Tyler Precia of Sun Prairie; Eagan and McKenna Schaewe of Mukwonago; and soon-to-be first Great Grandchild (Ben and Crissy). Gene is further survived by his brother Jack (Fran) Grandlic of Sheboygan; brother-in-law James Radke of Sheboygan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Audrey (nee Bares) and Alvin Schueller of West Bend; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends from Providence Place in Grafton. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents John and Lavina (nee Mannebach) Grandlic; sister Diane Radke; father and mother-in-law Sylvester and Rosalia Bares; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Arlene (nee Bares) and Walter Jentges. Gene was born in Sheboygan on February 3, 1931. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1950. Gene was an active participant in the United States Naval Reserves from 1948 – 1952, while also attending the Elgin Watch School. He enlisted in the United States Marines Corps for two more years, honorably serving in the Korean War. He then attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology in 1959. He married the love of his life, June Bares of Port Washington, WI on June 15, 1963 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Belgium. They moved to Cedarburg in 1978. Gene worked as a Sales Manager for the former Freeman Chemical over 32 years until he retired in 1991. Gene and June moved into Providence Place in Grafton in 2013. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 12:30 PM at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North (1375 Covered Bridge Road), Cedarburg. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM. Special thanks to Seasons Hospice for their remarkable care and comfort to Gene and his family in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Seasons Hospice.
