Ethel Erna Sievers passed away peacefully on August 24, 2018. She was born November 17, 1924 and grew up on the family farm on Pleasant Valley Road in the town of Cedarburg. She was the youngest of five children of William Mintzlaff and Adela (Ethel) Krohn Mintzlaff Her older brothers and sisters - Bernice (Ervin) Mueller, Winfred (Elsa) Mintzlaff, Ervin (Inez) Mintzlaff and Louise (Alfred) Beimborn all preceded her in death. Ethel grew up in the depression and graduated from high school in Cedarburg as many of her classmates entered World War II. She married Erwin Sievers in 1950 and they had one son, Glenn. They lived and worked on the Sievers family farm on Lakefield road in the town of Grafton. They were married over 59 years before Erwin's death. Ethel was a care giver all her life. She worked at St Alphonsus (now Columbia St. Mary's) hospital in Port Washington as a nurses aide for over 25 years, usually on the night shift. She took care of her nieces and nephews as they were growing up and her parents in their later years and also her aunts, Erna and Edna Krohn. As her husband Erwin became ill in his later years she took care of him as well. Following his death, she moved to Lasata Heights in Cedarburg where she enjoyed the companionship of her fellow residents. She loved knitting and made over a hundred pairs of mittens for the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota. She was proud of the ribbons she won for her knitting at the Ozaukee County Fair and the Wisconsin State Fair. Following a stroke in April 2017, she moved to Magnolia Hills Assisted Living in Grafton. Ethel's family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Magnolia Hill, Horizon Home Healthcare and Allay Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. Ethel enjoyed the company of others throughout her life. She had a quick wit and saw the humor in everyday events. She liked to share stories and often started conversations with "That reminds me of the time..." Ethel is survived by her son Glenn Sievers, her sister-in-law Anita Lucht, nieces and nephews Donald and Mary Beimborn of Minneapolis, Bill and Laverne Mueller of Milwaukee, Edward and Janet Beimborn of the town of Cedarburg, Charles Mintzlaff of Tucson Arizona, Richard Mintzlaff of Bridgetown, Missouri and Jeff and Jan Mintzlaff of Madison; great nieces and nephews Nancy Sullivan, Stephen Mueller, Chris Beimborn, Dan Beimborn, Jenni Beimborn, Ruth Schultz, Kathy Schultz, Richelle Mintzlaff, Danielle Mintzlaff, Dan Reintz, Tom Reintz and other relatives and friends.
