Effie L. Johnson

Private Committal Services were held at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg for Effie L. Johnson (nee Wangen) 90, of Fredonia who passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Born in Lancaster, Minnesota on Wednesday, March 9, 1932, the daughter of late Efford Wangen and Alvina (nee Bushie) Wangen. Loving wife of Wilfred Johnson. Together the couple grew a large, happy family full of love and many fun memories. Loving mother to Leonard Johnson, Jayme (Tammy) Johnson and Marcene (the late Rob) Beischer. Sweetest grandmother of Patricia Kay (Chad), Jeremy (Valerie), Olivia, Hillary (Sam), and Bailey, Tammy, Desiree, Chad (Stacey), Jordan, Will, Gina and Jacob. Sweet great grandmother of 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Dear sister of Judy Albert and Kathy Bronson and also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Bronson and Arlette (Efford) Wangen. Preceded in death by her husband Wilfred, children, Glenn, LeAnne, and Renae, granddaughter Tresa, brothers, Efford Wangen, Kenneth Bronson and sister, Delvina Hinden. Effie retired from the Cedarburg Postal Office after 30 years. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States with her siblings, babysitting all her grandchildren including her great and great-great grandchildren, baking and cooking which included a cinnamon roll drop-off, embroidering, and putting each of her children and grandchildren to work with their first job mowing her lawn. For over 30 years, Effie hosted an annual Halloween night soup/chili dinner at her home for the whole family after trick or treating. Caring for her family was a core value to Effie and she loved and cherished the moments she shared together with them. She will always be known as the “sweetest, but tough as nails grandma”. Her family will miss this loving sweet soul.
