Edith Evelyn Miller passed away on July 11, 2018 at the age of 98. She was an exceptional woman who truly loved her family. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Edith’s life began on December 8, 1919 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born to parents Charles and Emma Ryan, she learned the value of every day trials and experiences in getting through life, as well as the value of hard work. She graduated from North Division High School in Milwaukee and worked as a secretary and girl Friday at Milwaukee Coal Company and Northwestern Mutual Insurance. She married her high school sweetheart, Helmer R. Miller, in 1943 in Milwaukee, sharing 65 years of marriage together. Some of her many talents included painting, sewing, and cooking. She also loved reading watching movies, going on family vacations and her Irish heritage. Edith and Helmer liked to travel and made trips to Europe, Russia, China, Australia and Hawaii. They both loved music and the Big Band era. Edith is survived by her sons, Glenn (Sue), Gale (Kathy, Donna) and Robert (Jackie) and daughter Lynn Burmeister (Ed), 10 grandchildren (Michael, Rachel, Lance, Todd, Eric, Kim, Jessie, Hannah, Evan, Katie), 6 great-grandchildren (Emma, Chloe, Preston, Cameron, Mia, Willow), and sister-in-law Edith May Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Helmer, daughter, Cheryl Ann, her parents, her brother, Howard, brothers-in-law Clyde (Edith May), Howard (Shirley), and sister-in-law Delores Miller. For the past ten years while suffering with Alzheimer’s, Edith was lovingly and well-cared for by all the staff at Cedar Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend. Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19th, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, N60 W6047 Columbia Road, Cedarburg, WI, with services following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Edith to the Alzheimer Foundation (http://act.alz.org).
