On March 28, Daniel Schmalz joined his family, friends and special four-legged companions that have gone before him. Danny’s short 26 years of life filled those around him with joy and laughter. His smile alone would make you laugh. He had a huge heart filled with compassion for everyone especially those in need. He would often seek out street people and homeless individuals, greeting them by name and sharing a conversation or a bit of food. He loved family, music, sports and history and could debate politics with the best. He never had a harsh word for anyone, except perhaps for some right wing Republicans. Those who love Daniel will keep him close always, but especially when listening to a song by Thin Lizzy, Neil Young or George Clinton. Friends and family can best remember Danny by reaching out to help someone in need or by honoring Daniel’s mission work in Los Toros, Dominican Republic. Donations can be made to the Los Toros Foundation www.lostorosfoundation.org. Daniel is survived by loving parents, Michael Weber and Rita Rutkowski Weber, brothers Tomas and Julio Weber and an extended family of sisters, Busha, grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of Daniel’s Life will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 6PM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1619 Washington St.), in Grafton, with Father Steve Lampe presiding. The family will receive friends and relatives, on Tuesday, at the church, from 3PM until 5:45PM with the Memorial Mass following.
