Karnish, Conrad A. Conrad Alfred Karnish passed away surrounded by family, on Monday August 7, 2017, at the age of 87. Conrad was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on February 13, 1930, the son of the late John and the late Anna (nee Mizak) Karnish. He was later united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart Marlam Mills on June 9, 1951. Marlam passed away shortly before their 65th wedding anniversary. In August of 1951 Conrad was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. He served as a Military Police Officer near Otsu, Japan from 1952 to 1953. Marlam joined Conrad in Otsu, where they lived together off base. When leaving the Army he took with him a life-long appreciation of Japan. In 2006 Conrad and Marlam were able to return to Otsu as tourists, reliving and renewing memories and old friendships. Conrad attended the University of Virginia. He graduated in 1958 with a BA in Mechanical Engineering. Conrad remained a proud Cavalier attending many reunions. Later Conrad founded Plastic Coating and Consulting Corporation in Milwaukee, WI which still operates today. Conrad was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, canoeing, hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing and gardening. If he could combine his love of travel with the outdoors, all the better. For over 25 years he fished at Eagle Falls Lodge in Canada. He loved spending time at his cabin in Amberg, WI with family and friends. He had an adventurous spirit and love of learning. He was a Boy Scout Leader and church youth group leader. He was an active member of the Peter Wollner American Legion Post #288. Conrad and Marlam traveled and cruised all over the world exploring the beauty of the earth. Most important to Conrad was his love and dedication to family and friends. His wide smile, great sense of humor, generous nature, and compassionate heart will be sorely missed by all. He took tremendous pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grand children. Conrad is survived by his children: Christopher (Karen) Karnish and Catherine (Jim) Azzalino; grandchildren Katie (Adam) Kramschuster, Geoffrey (Alex Arroyo) Karnish, Lisa Karnish, Emily Azzalino, Adam Azzalino; great-grandchildren Jack, Noah, and Lily. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Conrad was preceded in death by his soul mate and wife Marlam, his son Conrad Allen, his sisters Eleanor Smink, Mildred Smoliga, his brother John Karnish and his parents John and Anna Karnish. A memorial service will be held on Friday September 8, 2017 – 5:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg. Family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 PM-4:45 PM. Interment to follow immediately at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg. Memorials to the Peter Wollner American Legion Post #288 or your choice appreciated.
