Catherine “Katy” Hermann, 104 years of age, went to her heavenly home on August 26, 2015. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her most beloved husband of 68 years, Frederick Hermann in 2001; by 4 brothers, August, Carl, Michael, and Henry Karle; one sister Amalie Wegner; and 2 sons-in-law, Roger Sievers and Roger McKinley. She is survived by 2 loving daughters, Patricia Sievers and Judith McKinley; by 4 grandchildren, Scott (Jill) Sievers, Teri (Mike) Jackson, Steven Sievers (Michelle Pliml), and Kevin (Stacy) Anderson; 4 great-grandchildren Brian Jackson, Katy Jackson, Alex Sievers, and Melissa (Gared) Minor and 4 great-great grandchildren, Andrew, Anna, Aaron and Arya Minor. Katy was born on June 15, 1911 in Straub, Russia to German parents, Christina (nee Laub) and Michael Karle. Her father was killed in the Bolshevik War leaving her mother widowed. Her mother, Christina escaped from Russia, and emigrated to the United States with her children in 1923 and settled in Minnesota. In 1927 they moved to Sheboygan where she met Frederick Hermann. On July 20, 1932 she and Fred were united in marriage. She was a faithful member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan until 1994 when she and Fred moved to Cedarburg to be near their daughter Pat and grandchildren. In Cedarburg, she became a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church and remained a faithful member until the Lord called her home. Katy loved to bake and cook for family, friends, and neighbors. She passed on her love of cooking and recipes to her great-granddaughter Katy who shows great promise as the next generation to carry on grandma’s legacy. She also loved to crochet and knit and many family members still enjoy the products of her labors. She also loved playing cards and did so until very recently. For the past 12 years she lived with her daughter, Pat, and enjoyed frequent visits with the rest of her family. When close friends and family members said, ”I love you”, her quick response was always, “I love you more”. She had a lot of love in her heart and a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, WI on Monday Aug. 31 with Pastor Randolph Raasch officiating. Visitation will be Monday, at the church, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM with the Funeral Service to follow. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Fred on Tuesday Sept. 1 at 10:00AM at the Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan, WI. Memorials to the charity of your choice are appreciated. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to special friends, Joy Friede and Marilyn Cook for their loving care and help with our mother. We would also like to thank the staff of Horizon Hospice for their dedicated care.
