Parrish, Bradley J.
Artist Bradley J. Parrish of Mequon, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at
Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital – Ozaukee, at the age of 64 years. Parrish was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to MaryAnn & James D. Parrish. Already at age 3 years, Brad’s parents noticed Brad’s love for drawing. From a young age it became clear Brad had a God-given gift. In 1973, Brad was accepted into Alverno College where he took art classes during the summer and received college credits while still in seventh grade.
Brad’s artistic talent included many mediums, oil, pastel, stone sculpture, landscape design. Brad won many awards for his fine art and Architectural design. Painter, Sculptor, Illustrator, Writer, Graphic/Interior & Architectural Designer are but a few of his professional hats over his vast 50-year career. Awards include: Birds In Art Award- Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, 1993, 1996, 1998; Brad wins his first "Best of Show" award at the school art fair, 1963. Brad's fine art is displayed in Art museums throughout the world.
Brad’s faith in Jesus first came through in the piece, Christ, created in charcoal when Brad was 14 years old. The original drawing was done on the wall of his studio/bedroom on butcher paper he got from the local butcher. Other spiritually inspiring pieces include Angel of Love, Creation of Heaven and Earth, Creation of Heaven and Earth II, Creation of Adam, A New Day, Birth of Jesus, Abiding Faith, The Ultimate Sacrifice.
Brad loved music, theatre and golf. He was generous and helped others through his art including PBS, Rogers Memorial Hospital, Timberwolf Preservation Society, and many others. In recent years, health issues kept Brad from painting. In his lifetime, Brad created beautiful, thought-provoking pieces of art, which he worked tirelessly to achieve. Brad was preceded in death by his parents, James and MaryAnn (nee Restek) Parrish. He is survived by his children Andrew, Adam, Haley Parrish, and their mother, Kim (Randy) Wozniak, loving friend Sue Zielinski, brother Scott Parrish, sister Sherry (Phil) Kirsop and stepmother Bobbie Parrish. Further survived by many relatives and friends.
A celebration of life gathering will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Cedarburg Cultural Center, W62N546 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI 53012. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations, to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.
