Bernard “Bernie” Joseph Wimmer of Cedarburg passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 19, 2024, at the age of 88 years.
Bernie was born in Sheboygan, WI to the late Joseph and Frances (nee Heindl) Wimmer on June 16, 1936. He married Susanne (nee Klamp) on September 3, 1960 and was happily married for 64 years.
Bernie retired from Prudential Insurance Company in 1996 with over a 25 years career in sales.
Bernie served in the Marine Air Reserve for roughly ten years and was always proud to share his accomplishments. He was a member of the Cedarburg Lion’s Club and had an avid social life, which included rounds of golf and weekly breakfast. Bernie was a man of deep faith and instilled strong Christian values as an active church and choir member. Overall, Bernie’s greatest joy was his grandchildren, always looking forward to creating memories, sharing stories and spending time together as a family.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Susanne; his four children: Timothy (Becky) Wimmer, Debra (Mark) Klotz, Dawn (Kevin) Gall, and Lisa (Mike) Conti; his grandchildren: Brandon (Kim) Wimmer, Joshua (Amy) Wimmer, Madeline Wimmer, Dustin Scott, Kyle (Amanda) Gall, Mitch (Maggy) Gall, Kassy (Alex) Ellis, Marissa Gall, Nicole (Ryan) Bates, Mikey Conti, Ashley Thompson, Dani (Mike) Missall, and Emma Conti; great-grandchildren: Aidan, Levi, Taylor, Michael, Colton, Elijah, Barrett, and Walker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 – 5:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 1619 Washington St. Grafton, WI with Fr. Tim Schumaker Presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cedarburg Lions Club or Ozaukee County Special Olympics would be appreciated.
