Bernadyne M. Pape (nee Eckl), 96, passed away in her sleep, at home Sunday Sep. 3, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family during her last days, and throughout her full, fruitful life. Mrs. Pape’s wishes were to donate her body to benefit medical science, and have her remains cremated. Bernadyne Pape was born November 8, 1920, in Milwaukee to Joseph and Bertha Eckl. She married Norman E. Pape ( 5/30/1919-1/5/1994) at Zion Lutheran Church in Milwaukee on January 17, 1941. They moved to Grafton in 1945 and raised 7 children, and were blessed with 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren to date. Mrs. Norman Pape, as she preferred to be addressed, or “Bernie” to her friends, was a devoted wife and homemaker, a businesswoman and civic leader. She was active in their church, attending all her life. She and Norman enjoyed many social activities with their close friends, and loved travel, card games, puzzles, Packers football, and played golf until her 90’s! As a business owner after her children were grown, she collected, restored and sold antiques in her co-op shop. She was elected as an Ozaukee County Supervisor from 1976 until retiring in 2004, taking an active role in improving the quality of life for residents. Bernadyne Pape’s loving family includes (in age order) James B. and his wife Sandra M. Pape and their children Matthew (wife Angela and son Ian), Zachary (wife Lei and son Cameron), and Rachael (husband Will Churchill and son Cash); Brian J. and his wife Joy Pape, and Brian’s children Sarah Pape (and her children Jayda, Nina, Michael, Aiden), Adam Pape (and his daughter Sydney Joy Pape), and Jesse Daniel Pape; Kevin C. and his wife Jackie G. Pape, and their children Molly; Maggy (and her children Madeline, Anna and Rease); Kelly (wife Melissa and children Payton and Isabella), Emily Pape (partner Taylor and daughter Olivia); Dale D. and his children Hadley (husband Scott Campbell and son Connor) and Maxwell; Leann S. Fabian and children Janell (husband Andy Grozalski and sons Samson and Owen), Lannon Turowski (wife Alyssa and son Granite and daughter Jordynn), Falon Groth, Heather Groth, Jason Groth (partner Ashley and son Lucas); Heather J. and husband Kevin Porterfield and children J. Ryan Fonder (his children Jakob, Joshua, and Jakson), Dylan Porterfield (wife Michelle and son Hunter), Logan Porterfield; Craig J. and his wife Deb Pape and their children Braydon, Heidi, Annika, and Elliana. A Memorial Service is being arranged by the Mueller Funeral Home at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington St., Grafton, with visiting from 10 AM and service at 11:00 AM Saturday September 16, 2017. There will be no graveside ceremony. In lieu of flowers or gifts, charitable donations to St. Paul Lutheran Church may be given in her name.
