Of Grafton, February 13, age 86 years. Arleen (nee Cain) was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 10, 1932. Loving mother of Jeffrey, Jody (Roger) Parchim and Tracy Fitch. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Arleen was preceded in death by her husband Anton “Tony” and mother Evelyn (Tonn). On September 22, 1951, she married Tony, a World War II army veteran, in Milwaukee. Shortly thereafter, they purchased an acre of land (at Arleen’s instigation) along the Milwaukee River in the Township of Grafton, less than a mile from her uncle and aunt’s home “in the country” where she had often visited as a child. At the time of her death, Arleen still resided in the house Tony had built almost singlehandedly sixty-six years earlier. Besides her family, Arleen loved animals, especially the family pets. Her children remember while growing up that there was always a menagerie of animals their mother nurtured. Most memorably, a blind wild duck with a broken wing that Arleen cared for daily for over ten years. Her love of animals included working part-time for a number of years at the local pet shop in Cedarburg as well as supporting numerous animal rescue and wildlife organizations. Her dedication and fierce advocacy for protecting all nature’s creatures hugely influenced her children’s life-long love of animals. For many years, Arleen enjoyed bowling (participated in a women’s league) and was active in her church choir. Her compassionate nature and kind smile quickly endeared her to all she met and she will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of getting to know her. Public services will not be held.
