Zolinski, Amy Marie

of Milwaukee, formerly of Cedarburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the age of 31 years. Loving daughter of John and Mary (nee Gyorgy), Dear sister of Adam (Amber), Beloved “Tante Amy” to her nephew and best friend, Cooper, niece and Goddaughter of Marty Gyorgy and Goddaughter of Melissa McAughey. Further survived by cousin Christopher (Amanda) Hauglie, their children, Caleb, Jonah and Leah (Amy’s Goddaughter), cousin Martin Gyorgy, as well as other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Dorothy Zolinski, and Martin and Olga Gyorgy.

From very early on, Amy loved watching and playing sports. From kindergarten through high school, she excelled at soccer, softball, downhill ski racing, NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competitions and especially ice hockey. Along the way she made lifelong friendships with many of her teammates as well as others in Girl Scouts and at school. When she went off to college at Northern Michigan University, she made new friends and went on new adventures. After college, she moved to Milwaukee, got a job and was on her own, but she always loved coming back to Cedarburg to be with her parents and brother. This was still home to her.

Amy loved music. Her iTunes were filled with all genres of music. From current artists like Bleachers, Bon Iver, Drake, and Dua Lipa, to superstar women like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, and to her two classic favorites, The Beatles and Johnny Cash. Going to concerts with friends was one of her favorite activities. And she wasn’t embarrassed to still go to concerts with her parents.

Amy enjoyed her many family vacations. From hiking in National Parks, experiencing the excitement of big cities from coast to coast, plus Canada & México, and travelling through Germany and France where she relished all the diverse experiences in culture, food and people. But by far her favorites were many family vacations to Walt Disney World. The funny lines from those trips are repeated by family members continuously to this day, with most of them having come originally from Amy.

Amy brightened every room she walked into. She kept everybody entertained, especially with her hilarious comments. As one of her friends said, “She had the most contagious laugh that made you feel like you were the funniest person in the room.” Another friend added “Through every life stage Amy had a gift for turning the smallest, silliest thing into a hysterical, belly laugh moment.” She had a gift for humor, was an extremely kind and caring person, and made the world a happier place.

Amy adored her brother Adam –they were best friends. Seeing them love each other so much was a parent’s greatest gift, filling their hearts with joy. Adam gave Amy the greatest joy in her life, her nephew, Cooper. When he started calling John and Mary, “Opa and Oma”, she became “Tante Amy”. The number of times she hugged and kissed him and said, “I love you”, is countless. Whenever Cooper was asked, who’s his favorite person, he immediately responded “Tante Amy”. Cooper’s mom, Amber said, “she’s going to be one fierce guardian angel to Cooper.”

Amy will be dearly missed by her family and her countless friends.

Memorial service on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 12 Noon at Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, in Grafton. Visitation on Saturday, at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
