ALVIN PATTERSON Alvin A. Patterson, age 90, peacefully went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 2, 2019, surrounded by his loving family after a week in hospice while residing at Sandy and Dennis’ home. Al had a wonderful life until 2016, when he suffered with cancer, and a broken heart after losing his beloved wife, Ruth of 65 years, whom he adored. He was a compassionate, loving husband, father, & grandfather. He taught by living his life with dignity, humbleness, kindness, and of course humor along with his infectious laugh. He put other people before himself, especially for those in need. Alvin also known as “Pat,” was a retiree of Coca-Cola Bottling Company with a service of 37 years. He also had a side business named “Pat’s Soda Dispenser Service,” where Milwaukee County Stadium was one of his first accounts. He was a United States Veteran of WW2. He served with the U.S. Army 6th Signal Company in Occupation of Korea, and later joined the Naval Reserves. Alvin enjoyed family vacations and spending time with his family. He was an avid Packer fan and he loved to fish, hunt, golf, win at sheepshead, and could fix just about anything. He was a Member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Grafton and recently attended St. Paul Lutheran Church with his daughters. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Schoessow, and Nancy (the late Clayton) Giese. Proud grandpa of John, Paul (Jayne Benson), & Scott Schoessow, and David & Douglas Giese. Proceeded in death by his wife, Ruth, brother, Donald, and sister, Ione VanBuskirk. Further survived by nieces, nephews, and friends. Many thanks to the physicians at Aurora Health Care, and staff of Heartland Hospice for their compassionate palliative care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019, 3:00 PM at Pilgrim United Church of Christ (1621 2nd Ave.), Grafton. The family will receive visitors, on Monday, at the church, from 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pilgrim United Church of Christ, St. Paul Lutheran Church Grafton, or Family Radio (88.1 FM) P.O. Box 2140 Oakland CA 94621.
